ORION DECT Telephones Low Radiation

With an ever increasing environmental awareness and increasing media attention in the industry about radiation levels emitted from DECT phones, all of ORION’s new 2008 product range will include a Low Radiation feature which will reduce the radiation emitted.

We view this feature as a standard to improve all future product ranges as well as a measure in combating the problem of radiation if it does escalate to a real consumer fear in the future

ORION’s Low Radiation Solution: The Signal Detection Method

•         The Handset Dynamic Power Adjustment is conducted via intelligence on the base unit.

•         During a call, the handset will monitor the received signal strength to determine how close it is to the base.

•         When handset is close to the base, the handset will automatically switch to use a lower transmit power, since the normal power is not necessary.

•         When handset is at a range where the normal transmit power is required, the handset will automatically switch back to use the normal transmit power.

•         When handset is in low power, it will be transmitting at only 25% of the normal level; thus, radiation to the user is significantly reduced (i.e. users will experience a 75% reduction in radiation emitted).

•         The entire process is automatic and is completely transparent to the user.  The user will still be able to have the normal range and voice quality.
